A person has been killed by a train at Swindon Station.
Duty inspector Colin Conway from Wiltshire Police confirmed the death and said British Transport Police are currently at the scene.
He told the Adver: "There was a collision between someone on the platform and a train.
"It was reported to us at about 4.15pm and it is a fatality.
"The British Transport Police are dealing with it."
GWR closed the station after the incident while emergency services arrived and dealt with the scene.
No passengers were allowed in the station during this time.
On the train behind the incident. Our driver was amazing. Kept us updated and fully aware. My thoughts are with the family of the poor person who was hit and the driver of that train.
