FOODIES in Wrexham will be getting a food and drink festival event after all.

Just a month ago it looked like the town would miss out after the Wrexham Food Festival was cancelled.

Organisers of a new event on September 12 and 13 say it is a natural successor to the cancelled festival with the backing of several local businesses.

Wrexham Feast, which will take place at Llwyn Isaf in the town, has been made possible by local business owners joining forces to form a social enterprise.

Announcing the two-day event, Wrexham Feast said: "The Wrexham business community has pulled together to resurrect the Wrexham food festival, making it a date to remember in the local events calendar once more.

"Renamed Wrexham Feast, this years’ event will have a focus on the community and local businesses.

"Following a similar format as last years’ food and drink festival, this years’ event will showcase local foods and crafts and have a family focussed feel during the day, along with entertainment, which will carry everyone through into the evening."

Love Wrexham, Martbe App Design, and other businesses based in the Wrexham Enterprise Hub have pulled together to make sure that Wrexham had a food and drink event this year.

However, there is still time for others to get involved and Wrexham Feast is appealing to any businesses who would like to support the event to come forward and contact them.

One of Wrexham Feast's organisers, Samantha Harris added: “We’re really happy that this event is going ahead, as it gives Wrexham businesses such a great chance to showcase their products, it would have been a shame to see that opportunity go to waste.”
