We all love our pets but one owner went over the top when they rang 999 after their cat fell down the stairs.

The South Western Ambulance Service, which covers Wiltshire, has revealed on Twitter that it received a call about a cat.

The cat in question had fallen down the stairs and the concerned owner decided it was a medical emergency.

But the ambulance service confirmed it couldn't deal with the incident.

It wrote: "We took a call earlier because someone's cat had fallen down stairs.

"Unfortunately we cannot deal with animal incidents.

"Please remember to call 999 only if someone is seriously injured or ill, or their life may be at risk."
