Fire fighters battled a blaze at a house in Chippenham yesterday evening.

The crew from Royal Wootton Bassett were called to Hollow Way just before 9pm after to deal with a chimney fire which had spread to a tiled roof.

A fire service spokesman said: "The crew was sent to a property where the resident had heard a loud noise from the wood burner and smoke had started to come out. When the crews arrived they found the wood burner and tiled roof to be well alight.

"They used a stirrup pump and rods to extinguish the fire then checked the property and the adjacent one with a thermal imagine camera."
