CARNIVAL stalwart Dave Buxton has produced a book to get even those who think they know Devizes well thinking and to raise money to keep everything from the Confetti battle to the International Street Festival running.

Mr Buxton, who is a trustee of Devizes Outdoor Celebratory Arts has created Devizes Details which is a competition as well as a fascinating collection of photographs showing the town from an unusual angle.

He said: “How well do you know Devizes and its buildings? Maybe you don’t know them quite as well as you thought!

“The book will present a challenge that will intrigue you and could well keep you busy for months.”

It contains 75 photographs of little bits of Devizes buildings, doorways, rooftops, windows and datestones.

Mr Buxton said: “It’s a competition, so people need to find them all and then enter their answers by the end of October and have the chance of winning the first prize of £500.”

DOCA artistic director Loz Samuels said: “Proceeds from sales of the book will go to support DOCA’s programme of events for this year including Devizes Carnival, Devizes International Street Festival, Confetti Battle and Lantern Parade.”

Another fundraiser for events will be the Winter Ale Festival which is being held in the Corn Exchange on February 28 and 29 in partnership between DOCA and Stealth Brewery.

Ms Samuels said: “

“The event brings the best artisan ciders and ales from local and national breweries to the Corn Exchange accompanied by fantastic music and DOCA style cabaret.”

It will be staged in three sessions in the Corn Exchange from 4pm to 11pm on the Friday and from 11am to 5pm and 5.30pm and 11pm on the Saturday.

The book, which costs £6 is available rom Devizes Books, Wiltshire Museum and online from www.docadevizes.org.uk).
