At a meeting of the licensing committee, Wiltshire Council members agreed that the proposed changes to the fare should go out for people's views.
The proposed new fees see small increases on the initial charge for using a taxi and no change to the subsequent charges.
The main change is the length of time that the second tariff tier is active for. Previously that started at 10.30pm and ended at 2.29am – it is proposed it will start at 10pm and run until 5.59am.
Bridget Wayman, cabinet member for transport, said: “We have been holding discussions with stakeholders, and have taken their feedback into account when creating these new proposals."
The consultation runs until February 20.
