A HAIRDRESSERS in Calne is one of the first in Wiltshire to be recognised for being eco-friendly, meeting high standards for its green credentials.

Owner of H M Hairdressing on Wood Street, Helen Massimo, 34, from Wiltshire Drive, Trowbridge, said: “It’s a new award this year and the Good Salon Guide visit your hairdresser’s to check if you’re worthy of getting the accreditation.

“We’re one of the first salons to be awarded this in Wiltshire so we worked really hard to be something different. We had a refurbishment back in the summer and tried to use as much recycling as possible.

“It’s about having a better carbon footprint, being cruelty free and recycling material. Everybody in the team is really ecstatic so we want to shout about what we’re doing.

“It is important to be as ethical as possible, of course colour needs to contain some chemicals but keeping it as minimal as possible.”

The Good Salon Guide is an independent scheme for assessing standards and services, allowing people to compare hair salons. The Guide said: "Or ECO Salon award helps to highlight those salons that are leading the way."
