MAGISTRATES in Swindon and Salisbury have heard cases against the following people recently:

DEVIZES: Rachel Ellis, 30, of Moyne Close was given a suspended prison sentence by Salisbury magistrates after admitting assaulting a police officer.

The court heard that the unprovoked attack happened in front of children on December 23 in Devizes. Ellis pleaded guilty and was given a four-week prison sentence suspended for four months.

She was ordered to pay £100 compensation, a victim surcharge of £122 and £85 costs. She pleaded guilty to assaulting a police woman and two members of the public and was given three further suspended prison sentences of four weeks.

She also pleaded guilty to stealing goods worth £12.80 from Sainsbury's and was ordered to pay compensation of £12.80.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Mark King, 27, of Glenville Park, pleaded guilty to using disorderly behaviour. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge.

SWINDON: Peter Murphy, 49, of London Road, Marlborough, pleaded guilty to drink-driving on Great Western Way on November 8. Murphy was behind the wheel of a VW Golf when he had a breath alcohol reading of 73mg. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £90 and banned from driving for 20 months. Magistrates ordered he pay £40 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

ASHTON KEYNES: Nikolt Stefanovic, 65, of The Mead, was given five penalty points for failing to stop after his Peugeot 307 hit a Ford B-Max outside the Park Lane GP surgery in Swindon on May 22. He had pleaded guilty to failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident to police. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

WROUGHTON: Harry Adams, 23, of Thorney Park, pleaded guilty to possession of 36.6g of cannabis. He was fined £207 and ordered to pay £117 in costs and surcharge. The drugs were destroyed.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Rowell Bramble, 31, of Queens Road, has been charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and being concerned in supplying cannabis, and the case was referred to Swindon Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

BADBURY PARK: Jimmy Lowe, 24, of Ballyack Close, has been charged with possession with intent to supply more than 800g of cannabis, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and possession of a zombie knife.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Swindon Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

WESTBURY: Joshua Matthews, 30, of Cleveland Way was remanded on bail on a charge of fraud committed between February 21, 2019 and May 9, 2019. He will appear before magistrates again on February 25.

CORSHAM: Katie Neale, 38, was given a conditional discharge for 18 months for failing to promptly notify the Department for Work & Pensions in the prescribed manner of a change of circumstances which she knew would affect her entitlement to Carers' Allowance, after she started working.

She was ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £21.

TROWBRIDGE: A case of theft against Kelvin Osman, 40, of no fixed address was adjourned by Salisbury magistrates' because of his ill-health. He is charged with stealing four bottles of champagne worth £98 from Sainsburys. He will now appear on February 7.

MELKSHAM: Annette Palmer, 55, of Grasmere, Bowerhill was charged with driving offences after she was stopped in her Mazda at Falcon Way.

She pleaded guilty to drink driving and was fined £460, disqualified from driving for a year and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £46 and £85 costs.

TROWBRIDGE: A warrant without bail was issued by Salisbury magistrates' after Dylan Rose, 32, of St Thomas Passage failed to appear in court.

He is charged with using threatening words or disorderly behaviour on December 12 in Trowbridge within the hearing or sight of a person who was likely to be caused harassment or alarm or distress.

Magistrates ordered for him to be arrested after failing to appear after being bailed at Melksham Police Station on December 12 and and failing to surrender without a reasonable cause.
