GAZETTE reader Terry Buchanan sent in this picture, saying: "When walking in the historic town of Chippenham you can only imagine what remnants of the past are hidden beneath your footsteps.
"The present excavation for an essential service has revealed that which appears to be part of a dry stone wall from long ago."
The works are being carried out by Wessex Water to update and improve the sewer connections in the town centre.
