IT HAS been announced that 80’s star Rick Astley will be headlining the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend at Newbury Racecourse.

On Saturday, September 19 Astley will perform for the Party In The Paddock Stage.

This comes as part of his tour which has sold over 100,000 tickets and will take him across the globe to Australia, Japan and New Zealand.

He thrust himself into the limelight in 1987 with his all-time classic ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ which now has over 273 million listens on Spotify.

To date he has over 40 million sales and his 2016 comeback album ‘50’ saw him re-claim the number one slot after a 30-year career break where he took a break to focus on his family.

2019 was a big year for the singer as he performed to over 500,000 people as a special guest in Take That’s Greatest Hits tour.

To add to this, he performed ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ alongside the Foo Fighters at Reading Festival 2019.

Harriet Collins, Director of Marcomms for Newbury Racecourse said: “We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming Rick Astley to the Party in the Paddock stage in September.

"It will be the first time he has played here at the racecourse and what better way to enjoy the last of the summer than with an afternoon of top-quality racing followed by a live performance from the 80s legend.”

Tickets are on sale to the general public on the January 30 but there is an early bird presale offer available to customers on the January 28.
