Football: Ady Williams will not be handing manager Paul Sturrock any early anniversary presents despite starting training this week.

The Scottish boss took charge at Swindon Town a year yesterday and marks his 50th game with a trip to Wycombe in Saturday's FA Cup First Round.

But club captain Williams, who is recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury, will not rush back after training for the first time since February.

"When you are injured it is easy to come back too early because your heart rules your head," said the defender.

"Sometimes it takes mental strength to say you will give it more time because you have to be careful with long term injuries.

"In ten days or maybe two weeks I should be ready for 45 minutes."

But Williams will travel to Adams Park on Saturday and is looking forward to the game.

"It will be interesting to see how we play against a lower league side because I feel we have gone up a gear from last year," he said.

Meanwhile, the club claim they have paid off all their football creditors, paving the way for the transfer embargo to be lifted once the Football League is satisfied.
