Stuart kept all the other passengers informed and ensured that the girl got the attention she needed.

In a letter to Reading Buses, the customer said: “Stuart was a star for the way he acted, please make sure he is commended/rewarded in some way.

"We always hope that people will look after our children when we are not around, no matter how old they are. There are still good folk in this world.”

Caroline Anscombe, HR Director, said: “It is well done to Stuart who is a very deserving winner of our Star of the Month award.”

Anscombe also congratulated Leon Emmett, 40, who impressed his managers after a change of role.

Sam Nolan, Reading Buses engineering manager, said: “Leon has impressed us all since taking on the role of newly qualified vehicle inspector at Newbury Depot where he has worked for six years.

“He has also gained IRTEC accreditation and has passed internal audits with flying colours.”
