The Harmonics Group from Chippenham have spent the last eight years dedicating time to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society. The Group, made up of 10 female singers and their Musical Director, have collected donations for the charity whilst performing at various venues including Kington Langley, Stourhead and Lacock Abbey. Every year the Group perform at the Bath Christmas Markets where they have now raised a total of £4,300.

Vicky Drew, a member of The Harmonics Group said, “In 2015 we produced the first CD to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. This year we were invited to sing with the Chippenham Male Voice Choir and CitySound Voices, when proceeds of their concert went towards the Alzheimer’s Society as well. I’m proud that all our efforts will help Alzheimer’s Society be there for more people affected by dementia and create a lasting change.

“Alzheimer’s is a cause close to our hearts as my mother was diagnosed at 70 and many other members of the group also have had loved ones diagnosed. My mother has been living with the condition for nine years and at the early stages Alzheimer’s Society were incredibly supportive to my family and gave us advice and support to help us cope with the diagnosis emotionally, practically and financially.

“I would not have coped without the support of Alzheimer’s Society as I had to give up my job to care for my mother, so all the support I received was invaluable. The work Alzheimer’s Society do is incredible and if we can help in any way by raising lots to money to help fund research into support, prevention and a cure, then it will all be worthwhile.”

Zena Jones, community fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Bath & Wiltshire said: “We are extremely grateful to The Harmonics Group for all the time and energy they have put into raising money for Alzheimer's Society. We’re facing an incredible challenge: one person every three minutes develops dementia and there is no cure. We’re here to change that but we need more people like The Harmonics Group to join us as we take on dementia together.”
