A DRIVER died in the serious accident in Westbury this afternoon, police have revealed.
Officers were called to the collision on Hawkeridge Road shortly after midday.
A Volkswagen Golf had crossed the carriageway and collided with a lorry while negotiating a right hand bend.
The driver of the Golf – a man aged in his 20s from the Melksham area – died at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.
The driver of the lorry – a man in his 50s from Chippenham - suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
A section of the road near to the industrial estate remains closed while collision investigators carry out further enquiries at the scene.
Any witnesses should call 101 and quote log number 110 of January 10.
Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area who may have dash cam footage of the incident.
