A YEAR 10 pupil from a Calne school has been making waves on the national football stage as she trained at England's home of football.
Iona Cameron, who goes to Kingsbury Green, was selected to join the England under 15 training camp at St George's Park, which is the training ground for all 24 of England's football teams.
The 14-year-old came up through the Wiltshire FA Advanced Coaching Centre, won a place at the Bristol City Regional Talent Centre and was spotted by a scout, who invited her to join the prestigious camp.
Iona said: "It was great playing at such a senior level.
"It’s competitive, but all the staff and other players are very friendly. We had gym sessions and I played against a boy’s team and a mixed team. It was fantastic."
Iona, who lists Manchester City captain Steph Houghton and English defender Lucy Bronze among her heroes, says ideally she would like to be a professional player, but if not she hopes to pursue a career in some sort of sport.
