Police cordoned off Canal Walk
A YOUNG man has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after an assault in the Wharf Green area.
Officers were called to reports of an assault in Canal Walk at approximately 1am today.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody.
The victim, in his 20s, is currently in a serious condition.
Police cordoned off Canal Walk this morning to investigate the incident.
