POTHOLES are set to cause problems on Wiltshire roads this winter despite a multi-million pound investment.

Wiltshire Council said it is all set for cold weather and will spend around £20m this year on major work including resurfacing.

But it says: “With high water levels this winter, there will inevitably be potholes on the roads and drivers are being reminded to report them so they can be dealt with swiftly.”

The council was awarded £7.3 million from the Central Government Pothole Fund and will spend another £500,000 on maintenance.

A spokesman said: “The council’s highways team work on smaller potholes by using a cold material which can be poured into the hole, or a number of hot material treatments that are used where deemed appropriate.

“For larger potholes the teams cut out a section of the road around the hole, clear out old material and fill it with only hot material.” To report a pot hole use the MyWiltshire App or go to www.wiltshire.gov.uk/mywiltshire-online-reporting
