TWO elderly people from neighbouring villages have been given some festive cheer thanks to a care company.

Bob and Marie who both receive live-in care from Promedica24 had their names randomly pulled out of a hat by the company as part of a Christmas raffle and have now each been presented with a luxury hamper.

Co-incidentally Marie lives in Pewsey and Bob lives in nearby Easton Royal.

A spokesman for the company said: “ At the start of December, all of Promedica24’s clients were placed into a raffle and 12 names were drawn each day in the run up to Christmas. The lucky winners received two deluxe hampers, one for themselves, and one for their Promedica24 carer.

“Our teams personally delivered the hampers to the winners including Bob and Marie from Wiltshire, the third and fourth winners of the 12 Days of Christmas Hampers giveaway.”

Bob lives on his own with his care worker Kasia. Their parcels were delivered by a care manager who said: “Bob and Kasia were overjoyed to receive their hampers. Kasia opened hers straight away but Bob wanted to wait as he said he won’t get many Christmas presents to open this year.”

Marie, who is 100-year-old, was in hospital when her hamper was due to be delivered so the company took the hampers to her bedside.

A spokesman said: “Marie and her care worker Maria have a lovely relationship and Marie refers to her as her angel. Both Marie and Maria were so grateful for their hampers.

“Our hamper competition is our way of saying thank you to our clients. We also wanted to treat our hard working, compassionate and dedicated care workers.

“The hampers are filled with luxurious food and drink items including mince pies, coffee and chocolate. Winners are being chosen at random from locations up and down the country.

“This year our focus is on the benefits of having a live-in carer and how the service provides much needed companionship and friendship to those in need of care. Promedica24 provides live-in care which allows people to remain in the comfort of their own home.”
