A DRIVER who left the country before being convicted of causing death by dangerous driving is still being hunted by police nearly three weeks after his trial ended.

Adrian Wojciechowski, 29, was found guilty by a jury of causing the death of Weymouth man David Grant-Jones in a crash on the A35 near Bere Regis in July last year.

He was also found guilty of three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Wojciechowski's conviction on November 21 followed a week-long trial from which he was absent. During the trial, jurors were told Wojciechowski was believed to have travelled to Poland.

In an update this week, a Dorset Police spokesman said: "He remains outstanding. Enquiries remain ongoing.

"We are liaising with the International Crime Coordination Centre (ICCC) and it is assisting with our enquiries to locate Wojciechowski and ensure he faces justice."

Wojciechowski killed Mr Grant-Jones and seriously injured his wife Heather when he hit their car head-on at speed when he veered into oncoming traffic, as the dual carriageway merged to become a single lane.
