LIBERAL Democrat canvassers in Bradford on Avon were buoyed by a visit on Tuesday from the party’s spokeswoman on education.

Layla Moran, the Liberal Democrat MP for Oxford West and Abingdon until parliament dissolved, joined local parliamentary candidate Helen Belcher for a canvassing session.

The group met up at the junction of Fitzmaurice Close and Moulton Drive to knock on doors and talk to local residents.

Ms Belcher said: “It was great to have Layla Moran, the Lib Dem Education spokesperson with us as we knocked on doors this afternoon in Bradford on Avon.

“Layla felt the level of support for the Lib Dems was very strong here, and we are finding this across the constituency as more former Conservative and former Labour voters say they will be voting for me this time.

"We have called at thousands of doors across the constituency and I think this is proving to be a very close race.

"A lot of people are worried about the National Health Service and think Brexit will make things worse."

"Masses of Labour supporters are realising that voting Lib Dem is the only way to stop the Conservatives here.”
