RUNNERS from across the county got their Christmas hats on for a Santa dash fun run this weekend.

Over £1500 was raised for Kale Turner, a 15-year-old boy from Trowbridge who is in hospital being treated for a brain tumour.

Kale was diagnosed with the brain tumour last September .

Before there was a chance to operate a bleed occurred on his brain which left him with severe brain damage.

The Turner’s family home in Dursley Road is too small to be adapted so his family are raising money for a suitable house.

Jane Turner, Kale's mum said: "The whole event went really well, we had lots of people come to run and show their support.

"So far we have raised around £1500 which I am really grateful for.

"Westwood School which Kale went to were going to come but were unable to as they had their Christmas fair, so they did their own fundraising there too which was great.

"It was really lovely and there was a great atmosphere.

"The weather stayed dry for us thankfully, although it was a little chilly, but people kept themselves warm.

"We are really trying to push things now as Kale had his discharged planning meeting last week and the hospital is looking at a potential discharge date in March.

"That is such great news for us but it means we have to work really hard to raise the money as I want Kale to be able to come home to the new house which will be so much better suited for his needs.

"This is the last push for our fundraising really and we really appreciate whatever anyone can give.
