A SPECTACULAR Christmas tree festival starts in Devizes on Saturday.

St John’s Church will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm for people to see the 50 trees decorated by schools and other groups and businesses.

They will be judged by Mayor Judy Rose on December 13 and she will present prizes at 7pm as part of a free Christmas concert.

The Church will be open for the next three Saturdays from 10.30am for people to see the trees.

A spokesman said: “As per previous years the trees have been decorated by local schools, pre -schools and nurseries, as well as nursing home residents, local businesses, shops and charities, and individual people.

“This year we have just over 50 decorated trees. The festival has been generously sponsored by Cross Manufacturing with facilities support by Grist, as well as local businesses, shops, the decorators themselves and individuals sponsoring the trees.

“Our trees have come from Roses in Devizes, who always provide beautiful trees for us to decorate. This year we are reintroducing memorial trees inside the church.

“The evening celebration will be full of carols by our celebrated choir, other wonderful Christmas music, magic and laughter and Father Christmas and Rudolf will be there.

“All are invited whether you have been involved or not.Entry is free. This is a family evening not to be missed. Come and join in the fun and begin your Christmas celebrations with us.”
