A GIRLS' school in Calne was ranked the second best independent secondary school in the South West by the Sunday Times School Guide.
St Mary's School, on Curzon Street, was named the runner up in the newspaper's listings, which are based on 2019 A Level and GCSE results.
The guide identifies the country's 2,000 highest-achieving schools. In addition to finishing second in the South West, St Mary's was named the 64th best independent secondary school in England.
The girls at the school achieved excellent A Level results and, in 2019, 64 per cent of entries were graded A*-A.
