THE Christmas season in north Wiltshire this year features a fair and market at one of the area's best kept secrets, the REME Museum in Lyneham.
The event on Saturday, December 7 from 11am-4pm is being run with the village's St Michael's Church with local artists, crafters and trader’s stalls at both the museum and church.
The trader's stalls will be operating throughout the Museum’s galleries, tucked in among its specialist armoured vehicles, wartime transport and modern fighting equipment of the REME.
The Christmas fair will also feature a children's elf trail and children’s craft activities.
On display will be a range of vehicles, including the Beach Armoured Recovery Vehicle used on D Day, a Scout helicopter which hangs from the ceiling and equipment and weapons from the 17th century up to modern day.
The museum is just outside the military camp at MoD Lyneham, and has its own large free car park. From there it is a short walk to St Michael's Church, which serves the village where there is still a community of military families. REME was formed in 1942 and is responsibility for repairing and maintaining the British Army’s equipment.
