SWINDON Storm have announced founder Steve Bennett will return to the club as the senior team’s Head Coach for 2020.

Head coach and offensive coordinator Bennett took three years away from the club to concentrate on his young family and extra work commitments.

He brings 25 years’ experience in the sport on three different National Championship-winning programmes, both as a player and a coach.

Bennett represented Great Britain at both Junior and Senior levels and is also a qualified fitness instructor and British Olympic Weightlifting Coach.

Following the announcement of his return, Bennett said: “I’m incredibly excited to get back into the sport.

“These past 3 years away have re-ignited my passion and I can’t wait to meet all the new players and go win some football games.

“I would like to give thanks to the current staff who have done a great job with the club.”

Coach Bennett is currently in the Middle East on a deployment with the RAF, and returns in early February.

The current staff will maintain the running of the club until his return, and are looking forward to delivering three upcoming taster sessions to anyone aged 13 or above at Ridgeway Leisure Centre.

The club wish to assure prospective newcomers that no previous experience is necessary as over 90 per cent of the current roster had not played before starting with the Storm.

The club also supplies all equipment to first-year players. All that’s needed is sports kit and footwear suitable for training outside on grass as well as a £5 registration fee.

If you wish to get involved with Swindon Storm, contact the club via their Facebook page – Swindon Storm.

The taster sessions are on Sunday November 24, Sunday December 1 and Sunday December 8.

Potential new players can attend one, two or all three sessions.

They will be held at Ridgeway Leisure Centre in Wroughton and registration on the day starts at 10:30am while each session runs from 11am-1pm.
