THE Corsham Neighbourhood Plan results where locals can have a say on the towns future have been announced.

The overwhelming majority of those who voted, voted ‘yes’ with just 162 voting ‘no’. The Plan has now been made by Wiltshire Council and will be used when making decisions and recommendations on planning applications in the area.

Chairman of the town council and neighbourhood plan steering group, Councillor Steve Abbott said:”It has taken us nearly five years to get to this stage and we are delighted that 93% of those who voted, voted in favour of the Corsham Neighbourhood Plan.”

The turnout was 24.6 percent, with 2,428 electors voting. Polls were held on November 14.

The question being asked was ‘Do you want Wiltshire Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Corsham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’

The Plan has been community led and informed by numerous public consultations.

It will be an important guide to future developers wishing to build in Corsham.
