SEVEN packs with 20 cubs from across the Wiltshire West District took part in this year's annual Scrapheap Challenge last Saturday (November 16).

The topic of ‘drones’ was well received by the cubs, who are aged eight to 10 years, as they are considered to be spies in the sky as well as Flycams.

The event at Hilperton Village Hall was organised by Wiltshire West District Commissioner Chris Broom who said: "The cubs built various drone constructions, complete with landing pads, remote controls and solar powered battery chargers."

The winners from Bradford on Avon, comprised ‘Invicta’ team members Tristan, Alastair, Thomas, Rufus, Peter and Lewis.

"They built a suspended craft with a grass landing strip and a controller.

Mrs Broom added: " The guest judge this year was Active Support Member Doreen Rogers who did a brilliant but difficult job as there could only be one winner."

"There was just one point between the winners and everyone else."
