GOLDEN Square's Old Market Place will be transformed into a festive ice rink from Friday, November 22.

Real covered ice rink, Icescape, will also be lined with Christmas stalls selling the likes of mulled wine and bratwurst and the attractions will remain open until January 5.

Ian Cox, Golden Square director, said: “We are really looking forward to launching our first ice rink at the centre. By working in partnership with the BID we have been able to create what was a simple suggestion and turn it into a spectacular reality, which we hope will bring so much joy to the Warrington community this Christmas.”

There will be various different skating sessions available, from parent and toddler time slots through to music-free skating for those who appreciate a quieter visit.

Harriet Roberts, manager of Warrington BID, which helped fund the rink, added: “A key objective for the BID is to make Warrington known as a great place for eating, events and experiences to help drive footfall in the town centre. We are delighted to be investing in the ice rink, it will provide the perfect festive focal point for the town while letting people know that there’s lots happening in Warrington this Christmas.”

Ice rink ticket prices start from £6 with family tickets available. To book, or for more information visit icescape-warrington.co.uk
