WREATHS were laid and prayers were read at the annual Remembrance service at Warminster on Sunday afternoon which saw thousands people gather at the war memorial.

Town mayor cllr Paul Macfarlane opened the service and hymns and readings followed.

The Military Wives Choir also sang We Will Remember Them, a song from their latest album.

Andrew Murrison, president of the Warminster branch of the Royal British Legion said: “There was such a great turn out, Warminster is always really good for people coming out to remember.

“I would even say that there seems to be more people than there was last year.

“It was a lovely service.”

Wreaths were laid by the mayor, veterans, the RAF, emergency services schools and more.

One wreath was laid by 20-year-old Anna-Marie Lewaicei whose father died in action 13 years ago.

She said: “It means a lot to me to be able to be here in honour of my father today.

“He has inspired me to join the army and carry on his legacy.”
