FIREFIGHTERS climbed England’s highest peaks in their fire kit to raise money for charity.
Each year the fire station social club selects a charity to fund raise for along with the Firefighters charity. This year they chose Dorothy House. They climbed Scafell Pike, Scafell and Helvellyn which is 20 miles uphill on September 21.
Crew Manager for Corsham Andy Webster said: "There were eight of us with the whole challenge being done in our fire kits so we're a bit mad. It was very hot and sweaty as we were walking all day from 7am till 8pm.
"The hardest part was coming down from Scafell becuase there is no footpath so it's not really a climb rather a scramble over big rocks.
"People have been so supportive as its something a bit different. This year has been our most successful year we raised over £7,700 for charity."
A tribute concert in Corsham Town Hall on September 13 gave a boost to the total with local businesses donating.
