PROUD parents Dan Sloan and Lucy Steele have raised thousands of pounds for a hospital that helped save their daughter’s life.

Little Nellie was born eight weeks early weighing just 2lbs 6ozs but is now an active and healthy toddler.

The family from Potterne, near Devizes were at Salisbury Hospital to hand over a cheque for £6,566 to its Stars appeal which will be used to pay for maintenance of family accommodation and to build a playground.

Ms Steele said: “Dan and I are eternally grateful to everyone who contributed to the grand total.”

The couple held a number of sponsored fundraising events and took part in challenges to raise the cash.

Friend Jodie Francis held a raffle when she opened her Gourmet Brownie Kitchen in Poulshot.

Mr Sloan, who runs a plumbing and heating business, praised the hospital. He s aid: “They were brilliant to us and gave Nellie amazing care. Nellie has made incredible progress.”
