SUPPORT for people with mental health issues has been created through a new dedicated website Every Mind Matters created by NHS.

A recent Public Health England report found that a fifth of people in Wiltshire waited more than six months before getting help over their mental health.

Cabinet member for public health Laura Mayes said: "I hope it encourages everyone including those who perhaps suffer in silence to take that first step to improving their mental health."

Every Mind Matters shows people the simple steps they can take to be better prepared for life's ups and downs. The new platform, which has been endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RGCP), will enable people to create a personalised action plan recommending a set of self-care actions to deal with stress, boost mood, improve sleep and feel in control.

Evidence suggests there are five simple steps people can take to improve their mental wellbeing: They are:

1. Keep connected. Find ways to meet other people.

2. Be active, look after your physical health.

3. Take notice and appreciate what you have. Take time to look around you, what do you hear and see?

4. Keep learning. Make time for your hobbies and interests. Learn something new.

5. Get involved in your community. Give to others.
