ONLY two games survived the wet conditions in this week’s Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories-sponsored Trowbridge & District Football League Division One.

Marshfield kept up their perfect league record at the top of the division with a 3-1 victory over Devizes Town Reserves but were made to fight for the points.

Devizes got off to the perfect start, going ahead in the first minute through a Cameron Lee strike, but were pegged back before the break when Tom Richards equalised for the leaders.

Josh Legg put Marshfield ahead from the penalty spot in the second half before a late effort from Ewan Anderson sealed the points.

Warminster United hosted Calne Town Reserves in the only other game to beat the conditions in Division One, running out 6-1 winners.

Two goals from Liam Gibbons and a strike each from Ashley Caws, Craig Sheppard, Tom Martin and Joe Martin earned the points for Warminster.

Dylan Cope scored in the first half for Calne Town Reserves.

DIVISION TWO

TEAMS fared a little better in Division Two this weekend with four games beating the weather.

Leaders Staverton United kept up their 100 per cent league record but were pushed all the way by a determined Stiffs team who they narrowly beat 4-3.

Kieran Green helped himself to two goals with Alex Shaw and Toby Brewer securing the points for the early pace-setters.

The Stiffs scorers were Nathaniel Edwards, Steven Lewin and Ashleigh Batham.

To beat the conditions, Westbury United Reserves and Calne Eagles reversed their fixture to play the game at Bratton and Calne were pleased they travelled running out 4-1 winners.

Keiran Gleed bagged himself a first-half hat-trick to give the Eagles a 3 – 0 lead at the break with Tom Honour adding the fourth in the second half. Ollie Dew was the Westbury scorer.

Barford Hornets and Dilton Marsh Wanderers also reversed their fixture because the pitch at Dilton was unplayable and scheduled hosts were grateful the game was played, taking all the points in a 5-2 win.

Dilton were also thankful to their goalkeeper Kevin Balchin who saved a Barford penalty after two minutes to keep the score line blank.

Wanderers’ goals were scored by Adam Welch – who struck twice - Rich Wyatt, Callum Crabb and Damien Hateley. Matty Keel and Issac Brown replied for The Hornets.

Seend United and Trowbridge Town Reserves shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

Jojo Brickell and Josh Thornton scored for Seend with Josh Howlett and Jamie Stevens replying for Trowbridge.
