DRUGS gangs have been blocked from entering a Chippenham home after police persuaded magistrates that it could be being used as a hub for criminal activity.

Officers said the woman living at the home in Milbourne Way may be the victim of being cuckooed, which is when drugs gangs exploit vulnerable people to use their home as a base for drug dealing.

Swindon magistrates put a three month partial closure order in place at the address, so that only the tenant and her family can enter the property.

Anyone other than the resident named on the order, is prevented from entering the property and can be arrested if found at the home anytime until January.

PC Ash Bray said: “Closure orders of this nature enable us to protect the resident, and prevent drugs gangs entering the property and exploiting vulnerable people."
