FAMILY of much loved Devizes baker Giovanni Campanella who died in May aged 60 are to hold a fund raising event close to his heart to mark what would have been his 61st birthday.

Sweet Week is to be held at Dolcipani cafe and bakery in Old Swan Yard from October 7 to 12. The cafe will donate £1 for every order over £10.

His partner Dani Motta said: "His death left a huge void in the community of Devizes. Everybody loved this charismatic, courageous and lovely man, everybody is now missing this charming host, superb cook and baker.

"With the outstanding help of Dorothy House’s nurses, Gianni was able to spend at home the last days of his (too short) life as he had wished, surrounded by the people he loved.

"That’s why his family has chosen to donate to Dorothy House Hospice Care for this charity event. We wish to give back to these amazing people for their caring support in such a hard and painful time, on behalf of all the whole community.

“We’re are going to donate Dorothy House Hospice Care one pound for every purchase over £10 for the whole week around Gianni’s birthday which would have been on October 10.

"On top of this we are also organising a private event with Gianni’s friends to rise more money to this cause so meaningful to us. We believe that Dorothy House’s nurses service at home can be utterly helpful to many in our community in a tough time that anyone may happen to experience."
