Trowbridge racer Chris Oliver tastes victory again in final round of NG Road Race Championships at Oulton Park

The races took place in very changeable weather conditions, which tested all riders' skills to the limit.

Trowbridge's Oliver competed on his The Garage-backed R1 1000cc Yamaha and started the 1300cc Streetstock race from third place.

He made a good start and led by the beginning of lap three before having to fend off a strong challenge from Dave Irons.

In the closing stages, Irons slid off his machine to hand Oliver the win, while he also set the fastest lap in a time of 1min 53.73secs.

After recently being crowned 1300cc Streetstock champion and 1300cc Newcomer champion, Oliver opted to compete in the Open race at Oulton, which brought together all of the fastest club superbike riders.

Oliver qualified 12th fastest and again made a good start and got up to 10th place, a position he held until the finish.

Post-race, Oliver revealed he is considering either trying to defend his Streetstock championship next season or move up to the Open class.

Meanwhile, Broughton Gifford's Travis Vince was again in fine form in the ACU 250gp National and NG Cup on his TZ 250cc Yamaha.

He was sixth fastest after qualifying before setting out on a duel for Andy Davies for fifth in the early stages of the race.

As the race progressed, Vince managed to fend off Davies to cross the line in fifth despite a couple machine problems.

The result saw Vince win the NG Cup class and set the fastest NG Cup lap in 1min 57.32secs.

This was his fifth NG Cup victory of the season and he finished fourth in the championship.

Another rider to notch up a podium place was Marlborough's Paul Willis.

Wallis was one of the most experienced competitors at this meeting as, back in the 1970s, he competed alongside Barry Sheene in a British Formula One race when they both raced 750cc four-stroke machines.

At Oulton, Wallis notched third place in the Sound of Thunder race on his KTM RC8 machine.
