ORGANISERS of Marlborough Literature Festival were delighted that a record number of sell-out talks were held as part of its 10th anniversary event.
Lit Fest chairman Genevieve Clark said: “We had very positive feedback about the calibre and range of authors.”
Around 3,400 tickets were sold and 900 schoolchildren were able to attend free author events in both Marlborough and Calne as part of this year’s LitFest.
Ms Clark said: “Many more took part in the competition and will benefit from free books provided for their school libraries.
“There was a real buzz at all the venues and in the festival cafe and people of all ages loved the chance to get their books signed and chat to the authors.”
The White Horse Bookshop reported a very busy and successful weekend with pop-up shops in the Town Hall and at all the author events.
Queues formed as fans snapped up books and the chance to have them signed by their favourite writer.
Ms Clark said: “We hope everyone enjoyed our tenth year as much as we did. We had so much support from the town and drew in new audiences as well. We’ve started planning for 2020 already.”
