Marlborough High Street almost came to a standstill on Thursday morning as school children entertained shoppers with a choreographed dance to welcome the start of LitFest 2019.

More than 60 primary schoolchildren from Marlborough St Mary's School performed a dance routine, choreographed by teacher Rachel Haines, outside the Town Hall, The White Horse Bookshop and Barclays bank.

The children were dressed up as some of their favourite book characters, from Wally to Dennis The Menace, with one pupil even dressing up as a dictionary .

Shoppers looked on as the group of youngsters danced to I've Got A Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas.

The children were treated to drinks and specially-made cupcakes to commemorate the festival's tenth anniversary, as well as singing Happy Birthday to LitFest.

Marlborough mayor, Cllr Mervyn Hall, also came to get involved to watch as his granddaughter was one of the 60 children taking part in the dance on Thursday.
