POLICE have named a motorcyclist who died in an accident on the A338 at Collingbourne Kingston on Friday as Marlborough man Simon Cheese, 55.

The collision occurred at approximately 6.30pm on Friday 20 September.

Mr Cheese was travelling southbound along the A338 and a Peugeot Partner van was travelling northbound when the collision took place. Mr Cheese died at the scene.

A police spokesman said an inquest was yet to be opened. They said: “Our thoughts are with his family at this time and they are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.

“The driver of the van was taken to Salisbury District Hospital with minor injuries.

“The road was closed for approximately six hours to allow for collision investigators to attend the scene.” Witnesses are asked to call 101 with reference 54190093675.
