In an effort to raise awareness of Early Years literacy, the Organic Forest Kindergarten in Rushall, will be hiding 100 children's books in and around Devizes.

Taking place from 23 September, the free treasure hunt will get people to look for a book pack which will contain a book to keep. Books will be hidden in places such as parks, green areas and in and around town.

This book will be an invite to attend the woodland on October 27 at 10 am.

Author Barbara Townsend, who has written The Savernake Big Belly Oak, will be reading to people. There will also be cakes, drinks and a chance for people to enjoy the woodland.

Dionne Pullen, Managing Director of Organic Forest Kindergarten, said: “Our aim is to create an excitement about reading, and we are inviting people to join us for the book hide as we want people to be more engaged with it. We are really passionate about getting people reading and enjoying it with family.”

The book hide is hoping to encourage families to get enthusiastic about reading. Particularly, as more kids are using technology to read through tablets rather than getting a book.

Most children’s play groups have an indoor learning space, but Organic Forest Kindergarten doesn't, as the focus is on children learning knowledge outdoors.

Through play based learning, which differs from a more traditional pre-school, children are educated in a natural environment. This type of approach is said to be possibly a better way for children to grow and develop.

They are hoping this will become a yearly event which is accessible to as many people as possible.
