Nearly a hundred people enjoyed a twenty-minute show of upcycled second-hand clothes and eco-fashion on Saturday 14 September at 4pm, in the setting of the upstairs floor of Chippenham Library. The show was timed to coincide with London Fashion Week.
Local models showcased outfits that had been created from clothes and accessories from charity shops, with one or two eco-items thrown into the mix. Gabriele, a hair and make-up student from Wiltshire College, and Megan, a young person from Kandu-Arts, skilfully created sophisticated looks to complement the outfits.
The show was part of the launch of 'Refashion My Town', with Chippenham being chosen as the pilot town for the campaign. Workshops are being provided free-of-charge at the 'Zero' pop-up shop in Emery Gate, to help people get the most out of their clothing, including learning skills in mending and patching.
The activities are sponsored by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity and Chippenham BID. Young people from local schools, students from Wiltshire College, and Kandu-Arts are involved in the project, which is being made into a short film.
