CROWDS came out in their thousands for another year of music, lights and costumes as Pewsey carnival returned.

Floats flooded the streets of the village as people of all ages watched the procession.

The carnival was established in 1898 making it Wiltshire's oldest carnival.

Karena Maclean from Devizes said: "It was my first time at the carnival and I brought my child and family with me.

"I thought there was a lot of effort and enthusiasm put into the floats

"I won’t get Nelly the elephant out my mind for the rest of the weekend that's for sure.

"It was a good fun family evening with something for everyone."

Gary Harvey and his family travelled from Melksham for the carnival.

He said: "The carnival was just like a festival of music and lights and fun was had by all.

"My favourite float was the Ghostbusters, the costumes were very impressive.

"It was a great atmosphere, it stayed dry and it was nice to see such a big crowd of people of all ages."
