ATHLETES will be getting on their bikes, treadmills and rowing machines in an attempt to travel around the world in a day to mark National Fitness Day.

September 25 marks the day and people in Wiltshire can take part by clocking up the miles in their local gym.

The 25,000 miles trek will be completed by people from across all Wiltshire council leisure centres using any gym equipment or taking a dip in the pool.

As long as you have had a gym induction you can take part and anyone can swim to add lengths to the total.

Cllr Allison Bucknell, cabinet member for leisure said: “This is quite a challenge but I believe we can do it. Often exercise can be so much more fun if you have a goal to achieve and this event will certainly set an ambitious target.

"I would encourage people to attend their local leisure centre and help us travel the world in one day.”
