AN INSPIRATION speaker gave a presentation to staff and pupils at Leehurst Swan this week.

James Shone, an inspirational speaker and founder of the I Can and I Am charity, gave "amusing and challenging presentations" to Leehurst Swan pupils, staff and parents.

Not only did James draw on his own story of how he lost his sight and responded to set backs, but he showed a short film about Nick Vujicic. Nick was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterised by the absence of arms and legs.

The film is moving, funny and explores the power of having a positive attitude.

James also stressed the importance of not focussing only on good academic performance and gave listeners valuable tips for maintaining good mental wellbeing.

A statement from Leehurst Swan said: "His original, passionate, personal and light-hearted approach made a huge impact."

James has also previously given talks at other schools in Salisbury, including Chafyn Grove.
