EXCELLENT customer service has been praised by a keen gardener who was helped by a friendly Wiltshire Council worker this week.

Patrick Ranger went into the council buildings after having problems with payments for his green waste collection.

When he realised he had overpaid for the service he spoke to staff member Martin Hill, who was able to look into the matter and give him a refund.

Mr Ranger, from Heywood, near Trowbridge, said: “Customer services don’t often have something nice said about them so I thought when they were really helpful it was worth speaking about.

"There seems to be a systems problem, when I phone them there are always queues waiting to speak. But once you speak to someone they are often very helpful and friendly.

“I’m still waiting for the collection but I have been messaged to say that it should be happening soon.”

Customer services team leader Mr Hill has worked for the local authority for 14 years and said he was happy to hear the kind words.

Speaking from County Hall on Bythesea Road in Trowbridge, he said: “It is very rare to be contacted to say good job so when people do take the time, it is great to hear.

"We deal with thousands of people on the phone and face to face everyday and I don't think we get many complaints at all. I have a team of people who work under me resolving queries and sometimes we can't always help but we can pass them through to the correct teams."
