PREVIOUS Air traffic controller Bryony Fuller, 68 from West Overton, is taking to the skies once again to do a wingwalk for charity.

This is her fourth effort at raising money for the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) after they helped her through a difficult time. Despite remaining unscathed during her career, she suffered a life-changing injury at home, when she fell down the stairs and broke her back.

After a long recovery, Mrs Fuller wanted to give back to a cause that has done so much for her. The accident has been the inspiration for all her fundraising efforts as she has previously completed three skydives in just three years.

She said: “The RAFA association have been amazing and have helped me so much. I don’t know what I would have done without their support. They have given me an electric wheelchair and wetroom which have been so important for my recovery.”

A wingwalk involves the person being strapped on top of an aircraft while it performs loops, barrels and upside down spins. However, Mrs Fuller thinks this will be easier than skydiving even though that was as high as three miles so 1,500 feet with a parachute.

Both Mrs Fuller and her Mum, who is 101, have served in the Royal Air Force so it is an important cause that means a lot to them both.

The daredevil challenge will take place on September 25 at the RAF Rendcomb airfield near Cirencester. Mrs Fuller’s son George will be by her side as he will be attempting the challenge with her.
