CHILDREN from all over Devizes have been finding hidden books thanks to a reading treasure hunt trail organised by Bishops Cannings School.
Books left in waterproof bags were placed all around the town and those lucky enough to find one were urged to re-hide once completing their read.
School governor Harriet Phillips, who organised the trail, said: “It has been fantastic to hear about all the wonderful reading that has been taking place over the summer and how much the children have enjoyed seeking out reading treasure around Devizes”.
As part of the scheme families were invited to donate old books to the treasure collection. By the end of the summer, books were were found re-hidden as far away as Calne and Woodborough.
Among those enjoying the hunt were Year 6 pupil Harry, his sister Freya and friend Jack. He said “We live near a park and I helped my sister find her book. She was really excited to read the book with me.” The book hunt is continuing this term.
