A COUPLE from Devizes who go the extra mile to make their guests feel at home are one of 18 bed and breakfasts in the south west to be nominated for an award.

Nick and Jenny Westington to run Avalon Lodge in Devizes Road, Rowde have been named in the bed, breakfast and beyond category of the 2019 eviivo awards.

A spokesman for the awards said: “It is one of the south west’s finest independent accommodation to have been shortlisted in the Oscars of the UK’s independent accommodation sector across a variety of categories.

“The eviivo Awards, now their sixth year, recognise the best of the UK’s world class B&Bs, guest houses, inns, serviced apartments, self-catering units and small independent hotels from across the country.

“This year’s shortlist has seen over 100 properties make the cut by reaching the final stages of the process of these coveted awards.”

Mr and Mrs Westington said: “Many of our family and friends thought we were mad to give up our roles as a chief executive and regional area manager and enter into a completely different lifestyle.

“We live in a lovely part of the country, in a big house surrounded by countryside but walking distance to town.

“We have gathered a collection of animals, many of them rescued, grow lots of our own food, enjoy the many local attractions and celebrate our leap of faith.”
