CARNIVAL fun is well and truly up and running in Pewsey as the village builds towards its illuminated procession on September 21.

Over the bank holiday weekend it was the turn of the Carnival Scarecrow Trail organised by Carol Parsons. She was delighted that the hot weather drew crowds from all over the area to Pewsey to try and work out which crow was which in the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

In addition there was a children’s pebble trail that got youngsters hunting high and low for the hidden stones.

Mrs Parsons said: “Thank you to everyone who helped over the course of the last few days in making scarecrows, baking cakes and volunteering at the event.”

Among those enjoying trying to work out the identity of the crows was James Saunders-Anderson who said: “Great weather and very cryptic brain teaser clues for the scarecrow trail.”

Claire Giddy, who organised the children’s trail, said: “Another great scarecrow trail. I’d like to also thank Sarah Ducker Sarah Sims Elaine Stephens and Chris Stephens for helping me paint the pebbles for the children’s trail. Anyone who has a pebble, please hide it as part of #pewseypebbles”

James Lynch said: “My family from Devon have spent the weekend in Pewsey on the scarecrow trail. We appreciate everyone’s hard work.”

There is something practically every day between now and September 21 with the big events including the four-legged race on September 14 with registration at the Bouverie Hall from 6.30pm and the wheelbeerow on September 19.
