WORK has begun on a project which will mean users of the Kennet Valley Hall in Lockeridge can enjoy their activities in the warm and dry this winter.
The Hall has been given £32,536 from the National Lottery Community Fund Lottery for
roof works, which the management committee hope with be finished by October.
Brian Rayment, of the Kennet Valley Hall Management Committee, said: "This award represents a substantial contribution towards the reconstruction of the Hall roof. The decision to make the award was in recognition that the Hall was the operational base for a wide range of community, charity and social groups whose activities would be severely disrupted should the current state of the Hall roof deteriorate further. The balance of the total cost of £47,536 will come from the Hall's own funds.
"The KVH Committee would like to thank both the players of The National Lottery together with the many organisations and individuals who hire the hall for their support."
